New residential installation
Residential concrete slabs
Start with what the slab must support, then clarify who is responsible for its design.

Define the intended use
Explain whether you are planning a residential pad, a building-related slab or another new surface. Include future equipment or structures in that description. Dimensions are only one input: loads, ground conditions, drainage and connections also matter. This website cannot specify thickness, reinforcement or a structural design.
Assign design and approval responsibilities
Ask who determines the design, whether engineering is needed and which authority reviews the project. A concrete installation quote does not automatically include plans, engineering, permits or related trades. Name those responsibilities in the agreement before comparing prices or scheduling material delivery.
Coordinate anything that passes through the slab
Discuss plumbing, electrical pathways, anchors and other planned penetrations with the responsible professionals before placement. Ask how their locations are checked and how changes are handled. Guessing future openings can create rework; the concrete scope should fit the larger project sequence.
Review preparation and access
Ask how the site will be accessed, what excavation and base work are included, and how the contractor deals with conditions found during preparation. Identify utilities and existing structures through the appropriate process. Do not dig or prescribe reinforcement based on an online planner; its output is only a conversation aid.
Keep the records that explain the finished work
Retain plans where applicable, the accepted scope, approved changes, inspection records and care instructions. Confirm who coordinates inspections and when the surface can be used. Availability, charges and suitability are determined by the independent provider after the address and project are reviewed.
Put the guidance to work
Use the project planner to organize dimensions and questions. Keep the actual address ready for the provider; do not enter personal information here.
